Meet the Best Friend of My Closest Friend.

It has long been a fantasy of mine to meet a girl who doesn't speak a word of English.

Of course, in my fantasy, this meeting was not supposed to take place over the phone. Mi español es no muy bien... sin embargo, Martha and I understood each other, and this was a most excellent conversation. A conversation that changed my own life for the better.

Martha didn't speak a word of English, and when she asked: ¿Habla español?

¡ Hoy no !

My first two words in a real conversation with a real latin girl. At the time, I had no idea that those two words actually fit into the conversation as well as they did.

Go figure.

That single conversation inspired me to learn her language with the same blind obsession that drives me to accomplish as much as I can with each day that God has been kind enough to loan me.

Thanks to Martha, I am now reading some very fine Spanish Literature.
